Thank you for visiting Edinburgh Electric Bicycle Tours. My name is Alexis and I have lived in the beautiful city of Edinburgh for over 20 years. I first came here as a student to study for a Degree in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University and enjoyed it so much I never wanted to leave.
I am not a historian but merely a tour guide with a great love of the city and its many historical sites that I would like to share with you on my favourite mode of transport – the bicycle.
At Edinburgh Electric Bicycle Tours we use the Elysium Shaft Drive Electric Folding bike for our tours. With an aluminium frame and 20″ wheels they are robust and compact. They have a Shimano nexus 3 speed hub gear set with a shimano gripshift changer. So there is no chain to get your clothes dirty and provides a much smoother bike ride. New for 2017 we have added Greentyre solid tyres – so no more punctures ever!
The battery is a 250W motor, lithium 36v battery with 2 modes and is quite powerful. By simply pressing the on button this activates pedal-assist mode so the motor only works while you are pedalling and cuts out when you freewheel or stop. When you hold down the full throttle button this turns the e-bike into a scooter so don’t have to pedal at all and can just enjoy the beautiful scenery for a while!
The bikes are suitable for riders from 1.52m (5ft) to 1.80m (6ft) and up to 115kg (253lbs) in weight. We also provide helmets on our tours.

*Please note that as electric bikes can reach speeds of 15 mph we can only accommodate those 14 years and above on our tours.
